I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star James McVey was recently left stranded in Hong Kong airport with his band The Vamps.
The region has seen wide-scale anti-government protests and demonstrations in the past few months, which this week resulted in the closure of its international airport as protesters stormed the building.
With all flights cancelled, The Vamps' tour was put on hold as its members were holed up in the airport.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain video call yesterday (August 13), James explained: "We were coming into Hong Kong and were told we might not be able to land, because of the protests, then we didn't hear any more apart from the next flight [got] cancelled and we are still here."
Showing his support for the people of Hong Kong, the musician insisted that sleeping in the airport terminal wasn't an issue.
"We are very much pro-democracy and pro-protest. We are fine to sleep on the floor if it means people's rights are listened to. We have no problem with that," he noted.
Discussing the strange atmosphere in the airport, James said: "It was like a ghost town on this side of the wall. It was just like us and the crew sleeping in effectively a whole half of the terminal.
"It's quite eerie really – well it was at 2am when we were walking around not knowing where everyone was."
A little while later, James and the band confirmed that they were finally on their way to a rescheduled concert in Jakarta Twitter.
Nothing but love for the people of Hong Kong. Democratic liberty and the freedom to protest should both be seen as basic human rights... I’d sleep in an airport every night for that! So happy we were able to reschedule the show in Jakarta with such short notice. ❤️ https://t.co/fiM1giIgcS— James McVey (@TheVampsJames) August 13, 2019
