Woody Allen thinks he should be '#MeToo poster boy'

The following article contains allegations sexual misconduct that some readers may find distressing.

Woody Allen has argued that he "should be the poster boy for the #MeToo movement", adding that he has a "wonderful record" with actresses.

The director, who has previously faced allegations that he sexually abused his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow when she was a child, was speaking to Argentine news outlet Periodismo Para Todos.

The filmmaker has long denied claims from Dylan and her mother Mia Farrow that Dylan was sexually abused by him when she was just 7 years old, back in the early 1990s.

These allegations have recently resurfaced in the wake the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, which have brought renewed awareness to sexual misconduct in Hollywood.

"Everyone wants justice to be done," he told Periodismo Para Todos. "If there is something like the #MeToo movement now, you root for them, you want them to bring to justice these terrible harassers, these people who do all these terrible things. And I think that's a good thing."

Allen continued: "I'm a big advocate the #MeToo movement. I feel when they find people who harass innocent women and men, it's a good thing that they're exposing them.

"But you know, I should be the poster boy for the #MeToo movement, because I have worked in movies for 50 years, I've worked with hundreds actresses, and not a single one – big ones, famous ones, ones starting out – have ever, ever suggested any kind impropriety at all. I've always had a wonderful record with them."
